Babyboomer loves finger limes

Hi there Babyboomers

I won't go into explaining yet- enough to say " Hi again and it's good to be back to being a blogger."

So I'll leave it at that and hope you have had a meaningful day.

Finger lime pearls from The Lime Caviar Company, winner of the Outstanding Innovation

at the delicious. Produce Awards

I'm actually really excited about finger limes.
They are often referred to as ‘citrus caviar’ due to the delicate ‘crystals’ of pulp contained within the fruit releasing fresh bursts of citrus.

More to come from NSW, Australia.

Cheers Clara

Reluctant Blonde Nomad enjoys passing parade.

Hi there Babyboomers
I never thought I would join the throngs of Babyboomers out there!  I can't quite bring myself to be a 'grey nomad' so the closest I can get is a 'blonde one.'
I was dragged kicking and screaming into the idea and still have my definite limits and reservations.  However, when you are sitting watching the passing parade as we did recently at Mungo Brush -  Myall Lakes - National Park, you can't help but embrace it.

I won't go on about the downpour we had when we were setting up and how I was getting soaked as I attempted to close a vent but was actually winding up the TV aerial.  Or the fact that there was air in the water pump so for the first morning  G was troubleshooting before any water flowed.

It was tranquil and relaxing and as one guy said, "You wouldn't be dead for quids."

He wants to be a grey nomad!!!???.

Hi BB
There's a man in my house!
Yes, I know that he's been here for a long time, but on & off.  Now, he's actually here!  Like - retired.  And I don't quite know how to handle it, and him.
He's actually out of context.
C
ps - he wants to be a grey nomad!

Priorities and Confessions of a gym dropout

Clara is now a gym drop-out and
prefers other  activities

Dear Babyboomers
Now a self-confessed 'Gym Dropout' since last year, I adopted the idea of 'Exercise with a Purpose' - the concept being that if you have places you need to go, then walk there, or spend time in the garden sweeping  paths etc.  Cutting the hedge, for example, is a great way to exercise the dreaded upper arms while working in the garden definitely helps to restore positive mental equilibrium. I recall one of Jane Fonda's exercise tapes had one exercise called "PULL WEEDS ! PULL WEEDS! - she was always so urgent in her requests so I did as I was told.

I am currently writing a book about walks in my area so this also provides many opportunities to get out there and exercise / walk with a purpose along with regular morning walks. Then the 10 minutes of additional exercise such as some pelvic floor / abdomen stuff, some resistance activities using a stretchy car octopus, and a few basic moves using 2kg / 4lb weights.

All that is good. But - while I'm in confession mode - I do get up early, to walk with G. I really really really want to, but sometimes I really really really really want just a few more precious lifesaving minutes in foggy sleep. Fortunately for me, G heaps disappointment upon me so being an approval seeker, I do my best. However, with daylight saving ending soon, it is going to be darker, colder, harder. Follow my progress!  Re the 10 minutes exercise - you know what - it doesn't always happen. One exercise I do religiously, however, redeems me slightly - ie in waiting for the shower to heat up - with hands behind you grasping the edge of the bath, fingers pointing forward, 20 strong knee bends with pelvic awareness; this  exercises many essential muscles all at the one time, including the dreaded upper arms I keep referring to. This is my naked truth! And the good part is I am still asleep.

A new mantra - ie "I'm going to walk before I talk, jog before I blog and stretch before I sit," because for me, it's all about routine and priorities.
Clara
ps - It would be great to hear what works for you.

Hi R and other BB friends
I'm back........... having been released from the kitchen. All went well but I am not going near the stove today. We had fun talking about Italy, mainly, as MOG spends considerable time there, has been taking Italian lessons for 20 years and was interested in Bella and Umbi's life in Tuscany. G's lamb was delicious - he enjoyed your husband's interest in 'The Silver Spoon', which, by the way, is a favourite of MOG.
G took me to lunch at Dee Why which is one of the Northern Beaches known for it's great surfing beach where you can actually be in line with the surfers rather than in front - great for photography, (but not today.) On our way back, we stopped at Georges Heights, Mosman, to see the Queen Mary 11 come into Sydney Harbour. Friends of ours went for a cruise on the Queen Mary - amazing stories - they went to 4 balls on the ship so had to take 4 Cinderalla dresses!

Speaking of which I am so much enjoying the beautiful backgrounds to your work and your descriptions.

You say "My project is taking me out to places I would only have looked at from afar, or through a window" this statement includes two elements of my developing philosophy of living happily and productively in retirement.
One is project - replacing the idea/concept of goal setting, which doesn't really work when you are changing pace and direction - better to have projects which enable us to have something to work towards, to feel engaged in, to feel excited about.

The other from your statement is....... "taking me out to places', which is also the philosophy of getting out there and doing rather than being a passive observer which can tend to happen. Whether or not, the places are distant and foreign, or near but on a deeper level, is immaterial. The important element is exploring new horizons.

Love Clara

Welcome to my journey as I photograph something I create everyday for a year... RRT

Sunrise...March 6th

Neckpiece of Agate and Copper.
I took this photo this morning at sunrise. The form is perched on the edge of a deep ravine with the sun filtering through the trees. It was very beautiful. My project is taking me out to places I would have only looked at from afar or through a window.

Hi Renotta
How do you do it? I am in total awe.

We have similar trees in the high country - Mt Kosciosko - which is not so high - paperbark gums.

I spent my day attempting to sort out all the stuff I collect from the paper editorials.
The energy around my creativity at the moment, is in ideas, writing and photography. I understand that my blog lacks direction and structure - however I need to just blog in order to find direction.

I would love to see a photo of your studio - where you create these amazing pieces.

Hi Renotta

I'm doing some "cogging" - our term, derived from Co-blogging
- I love it.
I can be a cog in your wheel and you in mine. Win/win, with the amazing ability to catch up on those 30 years we missed.
COG - Part of a gear that puts things in motion - moves forward.
The Next Step - We'll stir up the future"
COGGING!

"I'm going to make something every day for a year and post it on my blog"..... Renotta

"Take Flight" Feb 14

"On the Rocks" Feb 15

I love the contrast of your natural creations which are soft and warm, with the frigid, hard background (as only Wisconsin can do it). The creative spirit transcends the harsh reality.

As you say, "It's turning into an interesting exercise with the photo and caption taking over from the work sometimes" - Perhaps there doesn't have to be a new creation every day but a creative photo relating your work to the harsh environment. This is what I love about the creative process - it keeps changing.

How about "Forever Young", "Creative Spirit", "Cogging", "Photorealism" for starting points.

Happy New Decade

Hi Fellow Sages
Beginning the New Year on a non technical note
Sagittarius - November 23 - December 22
Faith in the future is your greatest asset and you need it to move you forward. Uranus, planet of revolution, finds you restless as old ambitions are satisfied.
A new career challenge arrives whether or not you stay in the same field. Dust off your neglected talents and show the world another side.

Sagittarius - November 23 - December 22 The Sagittarius full Moon is a message that it is time to end one chapter and start anew. You have a rare chance to renew your life: what are you happy with and what do you think has outlived it's purpose? Be clear about what you do and don't want.
You're starting a wonderful new cycle so leave your baggage behind.

What better way to start the new decade but with anti-technology. Every now and then I find a prediction which seems to be written exactly for me.
I start this new decade with faith in the future, a determination to use the talents I have, along with the awareness that renewal may mean that some baggage needs to be left behind.

Happy new decade
Clara
